Home Learning Resources

Hello P6 parents and pupils,

I hope that you are all safe and well during these difficult times.  I just wanted to state again that I am fully contactable via my email and happy to answer any questions which you may have about the work included in the packs.  I have tried to make the work as straight forward as possible but I understand teaching and the methods we now use in schools can be double dutch to many.  Teaching is very much a practical activitity and my methods change continually depending on the pupils sitting in front of me and how they react to my explanations.  With this in mind, please don't worry about asking 'silly' questions and equally please create a timetable which works for you when it comes to completing the work.  You too are trying to juggle and understand a new way of life so please don't panic if things don't always go to plan .... we NEVER have a strict timetable in school and continually adapt to the changing circumstances.

Please find below further resources to assist with the learning of the first home learning pack.

Thanks for your support

Kind Regards,

Mrs Jill McKnight

I have attached the PowerPoint presentations which would be used when teaching the four grammar lessons included in the home learning pack.  I have also included a printed copy in the packs but they will work better and include more interactive activites if accessed as a PowerPoint presentation.

World Book Day

Thursday 5th March 2020

We had lots of fun discussing our favourite books with our class.  We then joined Primary 2 and read their favourite books to them.

During Term 1 in Primary 6 we have been learning all about the Vikings and we have enjoyed creating some Viking inspired artwork.

Navan Centre-Viking & Monks Workshop

We enjoyed our first class trip in November.  During the day we learnt how to write using Viking letters called Runes, used a Quill and ink to write a poem, learnt lots of interesting facts about the Vikings and how they lived and we even had the opportunity to battle against 2 fearsome Vikings!

Thankfully P6 managed to escape and return to school unharmed!
